Lee Mental Health Center, Inc. is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for case management, crisis intervention and stabilization, family-based services, out-of-home treatment, outpatient and residential treatment, supported living, and supported employment services. Lee Mental Health received this accreditation in 2006, and was reaccredited in June 2009.

This accreditation outcome represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded and demonstrates the organization’s substantial conformance to the standards established by CARF. An organization receiving a three-year accreditation outcome has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are measurable, accountable and of the highest quality.

CARF is an independent, not-for-profit accrediting body whose international mission is to promote the quality, value and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 and widely known as CARF, this accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of its programs and services.

Lee Mental Health Center was formerly accredited by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). The Board of Directors of Lee Mental Health, along with Senior Management, decided to pursue CARF accreditation because it aligned more appropriately with the strategic plan and goals of the Center. CARF has helped Lee Mental Health strengthen its strong emphasis on recovery and resiliency, as well as regularly challenges the agency to provide the best effectiveness and access for those served everyday.

Lee Mental Health is a United Way Partner Agency funded, in part, through contracts with the State of Florida's Department of Children and Families, the Lee County Board of Commissioners, private donations and grants received from the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, Cape Coral Community Foundation, The Able Trust, the Gannett Foundation and the City of Ft. Myers. Lee Mental Health is a private, non-profit 501(c) charity.
